Sixth, however, within the mind there are further six kinds: first, smṛtyupasthāna; second, sambodhi; third, setting forth great benefit; fourth, gathering the dharmakāya; fifth, not abiding in saṃsāra or nirvāṇa; sixth, purity of practice and abiding. In converting sentient beings, great compassion is the root; therefore smṛtyupasthāna is explained first. If one has not yet become a Buddha oneself, how can one deliver others? Therefore sambodhi is explained next. When self-benefit is fulfilled, one should benefit others; therefore setting forth great benefit is explained next. Still fearing clinging to greatness of marks, gathering the dharmakāya is explained next. Fearing again abiding in emptiness or existence, not abiding in saṃsāra or nirvāṇa is explained next. Fearing again grasping at traces of dispensing transformation, purity of practice and abiding is explained next. Specifically matching these six meanings to the sūtra text is as extensive as in that treatise; to avoid prolixity, it is not recounted here.
