The words "each one" and so forth explain the meaning of individual subsumption. As in the first dwelling: universally liberating the four modes of birth is breadth; causing them to enter nirvāṇa without remainder is depth. That in reality no sentient beings attain extinction and liberation is breadth; that a bodhisattva is free of the marks of self, person, and so forth is depth. Since the initial dwelling is thus, the rest are understood by analogy. If five hundred births of patience is breadth, being entirely free of self and person is depth. If spoken of in detail, the earlier subsumption of the eighteen dwellings by six dwellings, and the later subsumption of the eighteen dwellings by two dwellings, are both fully accomplished.
