Question: Offerings are of many kinds; why are flowers scattered here? Answer: Although offerings are many, they do not exceed three kinds: first, offerings of respect, meaning incense, flowers, and so forth; second, offerings of benefit, meaning clothing and so forth; third, offerings of practice, meaning the six pāramitās, the four bases of attraction, and so forth. This chapter mostly explains offerings of respect and offerings of practice.
