「罣」謂煩惱障，不得涅槃故；「礙」謂所知障，不得菩提故。或罣即礙，俱通二障。
"Obstruction" refers to the affliction obscuration, because one does not attain nirvāṇa; "impediment" refers to the cognitive obscuration, because one does not attain bodhi. Or, obstruction is itself impediment, both being common to the two obscurations.
