就第二明歡喜所由中有二：初明聞未曾有法者，正由聞譬說開三顯一解一義故，二者明得解之資，由為上根人法說開三顯一，與舍利弗授記故也。

Within the second [point], explaining the cause of their joy, there are two [aspects]: first, explaining their hearing of the unprecedented Dharma, which was precisely due to hearing the parable expounding the opening of the three and revealing of the One and thereby understanding the meaning of the One; second, explaining the support for their attaining understanding, which was due to [the Buddha’s] having expounded the opening of the three and revealing of the One by Dharma for people of superior faculties and having conferred the prediction upon Śāriputra.
