7.41

第一經家敘富樓那得解所由中有四階：一者敘解上法說開三顯一，第二言「又聞授諸大弟子記」，此明解上譬說開三顯一化中根人，第三言「復聞宿世因緣之事」親自解上〈化城〉中宿世因緣之說，第四言「復聞諸佛有大自在神通之力」，此敘其聞上〈化城品〉初明如來有神通道眼能見久遠之事也。

First, within the compiler of the sūtra narrating the reasons for Pūrṇa's attaining understanding, there are four stages: the first is narrating his understanding of the above exposition by dharma that discloses the three [vehicles] and reveals the One [Vehicle]; the second is the statement, "and also hearing the bestowal of prophecy on the great disciples", which clarifies his understanding of the above exposition by parable that discloses the three [vehicles] and reveals the One [Vehicle] to transform people of middling capacity; the third is the statement, "and further hearing the matters of past causes and conditions", personally understanding the exposition of past causes and conditions in the above "Conjured City"; the fourth is the statement, "and further hearing that all Buddhas possess great sovereign supernormal powers", which narrates his hearing the beginning of the above "Conjured City Chapter" clarify that the Tathāgata possesses the supernormal power of the divine eye capable of seeing distant past matters.
