8.59

從「彌勒白佛言」下是第四也，如來即會此人功德。從「佛告彌勒我今分別語汝」下是第五也。從「阿逸多如是第五十人」下，是第六佛結答，況此人功德也。「又阿逸多若人為是經故往詣僧坊」此下是第二人功德，前一人正是格量也。此下四人皆是廣出也。「若復有人於講法處坐」，此下是第三人也。「阿逸多若復有人語餘人」，此下是第四人，明在會外聞說《法華》仍勸往聽也。「阿逸多汝且觀是」，此下是第五人也。

From 'Maitreya addressed the Buddha, saying' downward is the fourth [stage], where the Tathāgata then integrates this person's merit. From 'The Buddha told Maitreya, I will now explain and tell you' downward is the fifth. From 'Ajita, if such a fiftieth person' downward is the sixth, where the Buddha gives the concluding reply, illustrating this person's merit. 'Furthermore, Ajita, if a person goes to a saṅgha dwelling for the sake of this sūtra' downward is the merit of the second person; the preceding person was precisely an appraisal. The four persons below are all broad elaborations. 'If again there is a person who sits at the place of Dharma exposition' downward is the third person. 'Ajita, if again there is a person who tells other people' downward is the fourth person, clarifying that hearing the Lotus expounded outside the assembly, one nevertheless encourages them to go and listen. 'Ajita, look at this' downward is the fifth person.
