Regarding the five flavors within the shared teaching: Chapter 32 of the Great Sūtra says: 'The buddha-nature of ordinary beings is like milk mixed with blood. Blood refers to all afflictions such as ignorance and formative karmic action; milk refers to the wholesome five aggregates. Therefore I say: from all afflictions and the wholesome five aggregates one attains sambodhi, just as the bodies of sentient beings are all accomplished from semen and blood; buddha-nature is also like this. Srotaāpannas and sakṛdāgamins who have severed a few afflictions are like pure milk; anāgamins are like curd; arhats are like raw butter; pratyekabuddhas up to bodhisattvas of the tenth bhūmi are like ripened butter; Buddhas are like clarified butter.' Transcending fruits is unfixed (and so forth).
