Next is the Heaven of the Sun's Course, which circles Mount Sumeru and abides in palaces. Non-Buddhists call it the sun's brilliance and the constellations, speaking briefly of thirty-six hundred million [divisions]. In the past, keeping the seven precepts caused them to attain superior fruits. Held up by the wind-wheel, this Sun's Course and other great gods, along with two great gods—namely Dhṛtarāṣṭra and Vaiśravaṇa—roam the four continents, sport in empty space, and enjoy the pleasures of the five desires, entertaining themselves at will. The sun's course circles Mount Sumeru; wherever it is, a shadow of the mountain appears, which people call night. The wind-wheel holds the northern stars, wheeling without setting; non-Buddhists, seeing that the polar star does not set, deem it capable of sustaining all worldly realms and lands, not knowing that it is done by the force of wind.
