5.62

又教廢、行位不廢。行位廢、教不廢。俱廢、俱不廢。云何教廢、行位不廢？住果聲聞，猶在草庵，行位不廢，而教廢也。云何行位廢、教不廢？利根密益，不待廢教，早休行位者是也。云何俱廢？三藏菩薩是也。云何俱不廢？逗後緣者是也。通教、別教例此可解（云云）。

Furthermore, the teaching may be abolished while the practices and stages are not abolished; the practices and stages may be abolished while the teaching is not abolished; both may be abolished; or neither may be abolished. How is the teaching abolished while the practices and stages are not abolished? Śrāvakas abiding in the fruit who still dwell in the thatched hut—their practices and stages are not abolished, yet the teaching is abolished. How are the practices and stages abolished while the teaching is not abolished? Those of sharp faculties who receive hidden benefit and, without waiting for the teaching to be abolished, put an end early to the practices and stages—they are such. How are both abolished? Bodhisattvas of the tripiṭaka [teaching] are such. How are neither abolished? Those who accommodate conditions in the future are such. The shared teaching and the distinctive teaching can be understood by analogy with this, and so forth.
