6.174

若別教法門恒沙眷屬，真俗合為權，智是父，中實理為母。無量慈善、無量道品、諸波羅蜜通達無滯，道種智分明，觀機識藥，即是別教中眷屬。故《無量義》云：「諸佛法王父，經教夫人母，和合出生諸菩薩子。」《十住毘婆沙》云：「般舟三昧父，大悲無生母，一切諸如來，從此二法生。」《寶性論》云：「大乘信為子，般若以為母，禪胎大悲為乳母。諸佛如實子。」

If it is the Ganges-sands retinue of the Dharma-gates of the distinctive teaching: combining the true and the conventional is the expedient; wisdom is the father, and the principle of the middle reality is the mother. Limitless loving-kindness and goodness, limitless factors of the Path, and the perfections are penetrated without hindrance; the wisdom of the aspects of the Path is distinct, observing capacities and discerning medicines—this is the retinue in the distinctive teaching. Therefore the Wuliangyi jing says: 'The Buddhas, the Dharma Kings, are the father; the sūtra teachings, the royal consorts, are the mother; joined in harmony, they give birth to the bodhisattva children.' The Daśabhūmika-vibhāṣā says: 'Pratyutpanna-samādhi is the father, great compassion and the unborn are the mother; all Tathāgatas are born from these two dharmas.' The Ratnagotravibhāga says: 'Faith in the Great Vehicle is the seed, prajñā is the mother, the womb of dhyāna and great compassion are the wet nurses; they are the true children of the Buddhas.'
