判五觀心為麁，後一觀心為妙。又決麁論妙，人尚不自識己愛見心是因緣生，何能識因緣心，即空、即假？尚不識空、假，何能魔界即佛界，於見不動，修三十七品耶？今觀愛即是法性，觀見不動，修三十七品，魔界見界即是佛界，於非字中而能知字，行於非道，通達佛道，於一切法無不是妙。

Judging the five contemplations of mind as crude, the latter one contemplation of mind is subtle. Furthermore, resolving the crude to discuss the subtle: when people do not yet even recognize for themselves that their own minds of craving and views are conditionally produced, how could they recognize that the conditionally produced mind is identical with emptiness and identical with the provisional? If they do not yet recognize emptiness and the provisional, how could the realm of Māra be identical with the Buddha-realm, remaining unmoved in the midst of views, and cultivating the thirty-seven factors of awakening? Now, contemplating craving as being identical with the Dharma-nature, contemplating views as unmoved, one cultivates the thirty-seven factors; the realm of Māra and the realm of views are identical with the Buddha-realm; within non-words one can know words, and walking the non-path, one penetrates the Buddha-Path—in all dharmas, there is none that is not subtle.
