9.103

又師云：此名「妙法蓮華」，即以名為宗，妙法是佛所得根本真實法性，此性不異惑染，不與惑同，故稱妙，即宗為名耳。此是地師所用，據八識是極果，今《攝大乘》破之，謂是生死根本。

Another master said: ‘This is named “Wonderful Dharma Lotus,” so it takes the name as the central purport. The wonderful Dharma is the fundamental true dharma-nature attained by the Buddha; this nature is not different from defilement and confusion, yet it is not identical with confusion, and hence is called wonderful; thus the central purport is simply the name.’ This is what the Dilun masters maintain, relying on the eighth consciousness as the ultimate effect; now the Mahāyānasaṃgraha refutes this, calling it the root of saṃsāra.
