As for perfect refutation: from the distinctive teaching downward, all are expedients. Thus Kāśyapa refuted himself, saying: 'Prior to this, we were all called people of false views.' Since he spoke of 'people of false views,' they lacked the perfect and correct path-dharma; thus both persons and dharmas were refuted. If persons and dharmas of the distinctive teaching are even so, how much more so the persons and dharmas of the thatched hut! If the two vehicles are even so, how much more so the persons and dharmas of ordinary beings! This, then, is perfect refutation, leaving nothing stubbornly retained.
