標用中二：先標列，次釋。釋中三：初文是示，從「於力用中」下二簡，從「非但」下第三益。初文二：先釋名，經有斷疑生信之力。次「三種」下正出用相不同宗體，宗體唯獨在圓，始終俱經力用故，至簡中自明。

In indicating the function, there are two parts: first, indicating and listing; next, explaining. In the explanation there are three parts: the first text points it out; from "Among power and function" onward, the second sets them apart; from "Not only" onward, the third gives the benefits. The first text has two parts: first, explaining the name, [clarifying that] the sūtra has the power to sever doubt and generate faith. Next, from "The three kinds" onward, it directly presents the marks of function as differing from the central theme and essence. The central theme and essence reside solely in the Perfect [Teaching], whereas the beginning and end are both the power and function of the sūtra; thus this will become clear in the section that sets them apart.
