Regarding "Question: Function is converting others..." and so on, it rehearses the answer and inquires again: If the central theme is one's own practice, since it does not include converting others, and function is benefiting others, it should exclude one's own practice. The meaning in the answer is that if one destroys delusions for oneself, one only uses the true path, which is called one's own function, and for oneself one must exclude others. If one destroys delusions for others, and for others it is appropriate to use the Great [Vehicle], this is also called function; therefore, converting others cannot be purely small; hence one also uses the provisional and the true of one's own practice. If one uses it for the true, one takes this very true to benefit oneself and benefit others.
