四引本文證者，證三世也。若有三世即有九世，九秖是三故且通證大體三世，念念三世準例可知。神通屬過去，通義其實通於三世，對餘二別故。師子是現、威猛是未，為令知佛化緣遠故，還引本文舉遠攝近以證四節。

Fourth, citing the original text as evidence is to verify the three times. If there are three times, then there are nine times; since nine is merely three, it broadly verifies the general three times, and the three times in every thought-moment can be understood by the same analogy. 'Supernatural power' belongs to the past, but the meaning of 'pervasive' in truth pervades the three times, because it is paired with the other two distinct ones. 'Lion' is the present, and 'fierce and brave' is the future. In order to make it known that the Buddha's conditions for teaching are remote, the original text is again cited to raise the remote and subsume the near, thereby verifying the four clauses.
