問「五濁障小不」者，既不障大為障小不？前文雖云小能治濁故不障小，對向四句俱不障大，則是大小一切不障，何以五濁得名為障？故對小更問：若障小者應一切不聞；若不障者應一切俱聞。何故初轉但為五人？

Regarding the question, 'Do the five defilements obstruct the small or not?': since they do not obstruct the Great, do they obstruct the small or not? Although the preceding text stated that the small can cure defilements and thus does not obstruct the small, compared to the four preceding propositions where none obstructs the Great, it would mean neither the great nor the small is obstructed at all; why then do the five defilements get the name 'obstruction'? Therefore, asking further with respect to the small: if they obstruct the small, all should fail to hear it; if they do not obstruct it, all should hear it together. Why did the first turning [of the wheel] occur for only five people?
