Fourth is explaining the names of the four practices. First are the 'sphere of practice' and the 'sphere of intimate approach'. These two are the spheres that are practiced; by mentioning the objective realms, the subjective capacities are designated after the objects. The middle two practices receive their names from departing from faults. The fourth, loving-kindness and compassion, is designated directly from its intrinsic essence. All are called 'peaceful and joyful' because, by resting peacefully in the four practices, body and mind are joyful. Furthermore, by practicing these four practices, the body is at peace and the mind is joyful. Again, external conditions being unmoving is 'peace', and internal mind being delightful is 'joy'. Furthermore, peace means departing from suffering, and joy refers to obtaining joy. Furthermore, the body is at peace and the mind is at peace; the body is joyful and the mind is joyful. The first meaning is the correct one.
