次明降怨即辨輪用。小乘於四諦方轉，降四諦下怨；正觀之輪於一實諦方轉，降生滅斷常怨也。又小乘輪於有量四諦轉，降有量四諦下惑；大乘輪於無量四諦方轉，降無量四諦下惑也。

Next, we explain subduing adversaries, which is to distinguish the function of the wheel. The Hīnayāna turns in the direction of the four truths and subdues the adversaries under the four truths; the wheel of correct contemplation turns in the direction of the one real truth and subdues the adversaries of arising, perishing, annihilation, and permanence. Furthermore, the Hīnayāna wheel turns in the measured four truths, subduing the delusions under the measured four truths; the Mahāyāna wheel turns in the direction of the measureless four truths, subduing the delusions under the measureless four truths.
