From "At that time the Buddha addressed" downward is the second part: praising the Dharma and urging its cultivation. First he praises the Dharma, and next he urges its cultivation. Within the praise of the Dharma, he briefly explains four lines: "All the Dharma possessed by the Tathāgata" refers to the provisional and real vehicles of the Dharma in the initial section of the sūtra. "All the unhindered supernatural powers of the Tathāgata" is the second: the provisional and real bodies of the latter section of the sūtra, their shortness or length adapting to the conversion [of beings], meaning unhindered supernatural powers. "All the secret and essential treasuries of the Tathāgata": because these two encompass all meanings without remainder, they are called "essential"; because they were never taught in the past, they are named "secret". "All the extremely profound matters of the Tathāgata": conferring the prophecy of attaining buddhahood upon the people of the five vehicles is the extremely profound matter. These four lines are in sequential order, and they also encompass the meaning of the entire work completely. Furthermore, the first line explains the Dharma of the cause and effect of the ekayāna; the next line is the supernatural powers manifested throughout the entire work; the third line is called "secret and essential" because the cause, effect, and supernatural powers were not taught in the past; and the fourth line does not differ from the previous explanation. From "Therefore you all" downward is the second, the encouragement and exhortation.
