「是諸沙彌等」，第二、頌正結緣。上有二：初、明一世結緣；二、明世世相值。今具頌之。初章有四：一、知佛禪未出，今半行頌之；二、正為說教，一行半頌之；三、明時眾得益，一行頌之。略不頌第四佛從定起稱歎也。「彼佛滅度後」，頌第二、世世相值。長行有四：第一、歎所化得益，一行頌之；二、明能化成佛，一行頌之；三、明結會古今，一行頌之。略不頌第四未來相值。

"These novices and the others" is the second [section], summarizing the formal forging of karmic bonds. Above there were two parts: first, explaining the forging of karmic bonds in one lifetime; second, explaining encountering one another lifetime after lifetime. Here they are summarized in full. The first section has four parts: first, knowing that the Buddha had not yet emerged from dhyāna, now summarized by half a verse; second, formally preaching the teaching for them, summarized by one and a half verses; third, explaining that the assembly at that time attained benefit, summarized by one verse. It omits summarizing the fourth part, the Buddha rising from dhyāna and praising [them]. "After that Buddha passed into extinction" summarizes the second [part], encountering one another lifetime after lifetime. The prose text has four parts: first, praising the benefit attained by those who were transformed, summarized by one verse; second, explaining that those capable of transforming [others] achieved buddhahood, summarized by one verse; third, explaining the joining together of past and present, summarized by one verse. It omits summarizing the fourth part, encountering one another in the future.
