論曰：是答述許所問。明本覺中無量性德，不為三漏之所染動，故言本來無漏。以此為本生諸善利，故言諸善利本。雖有本覺而由客塵欲刺所覆，故今未得自本覺耳。

The treatise states: This is the reply, agreeing to what was asked. It clarifies that the immeasurable virtues of nature within innate awakening are not defiled or stirred by the three outflows; hence it says “originally undefiled.” Taking this as the root, it generates all wholesome benefits; hence it says “the root of all wholesome benefits.” Although they possess innate awakening, because they are covered by the adventitious defilement of the thorn of desire, they have not yet attained their own innate awakening.
