In the second part, proceeding to enter in accordance with the teaching, there are also three parts: respectfully taking leave, mindful contemplation of the Dharma, and arriving at the subsequent stage. Within mindful contemplation of the Dharma: first, because the wisdom of the previous bhikṣuṇī illumined his mind, it caused the Buddha's wisdom to be nurtured; second, from "with single-mindedness" onward, because of mindfully recollecting the previous Dharma, he further developed compassion, wisdom, vows, and practice. Within arriving at the subsequent stage and seeking [her], there are four parts: first, seeking and asking because of her superiority; second, doubts and surprise on the part of those of shallow wisdom; third, praise of goodness on the part of those of deep wisdom; and fourth, pointing out her location. Question: Why did Sudhana himself doubt when anger and false views were manifested previously, yet now when the mark of greed is manifested, it causes others to doubt? Answer: Because the previous two directly obstruct the bodhisattva path, whereas greed and attachment accord with compassion and only weakly obstruct practice; therefore, the *Upāliparipṛcchā Sūtra* states that a bodhisattva would rather give rise to hundreds of thousands of greedy thoughts than give rise to a single angry thought, and so forth. Another explanation: Sudhana had already been subdued with respect to the previous anger and false views, and therefore with respect to this he no longer dared to doubt. In pointing out the location, being "inside the deep palace": according to the *Tridharmaka-śāstra*, a kingdom is the realm of wisdom, a city is the realm of spiritual superknowledges, and a palace is the realm of expounding the Dharma. Now this woman directly realizes the suchness of desire, and therefore resides in a deep palace. "Going to the gate": the preparatory stage ends, reaching the gate of the samādhi of direct realization.
