Fourth, from "replied, saying" downward, pointing out his own dharmadhātu contains two: first, praising the generation of the mind, clarifying the upāya of imparting the Dharma; second, from "I have already" downward, directly showing his own Dharma, within which there are four: first, indicating the name; second, distinguishing the virtues; third, revealing the function; fourth, concluding the stage. In the first, "great compassion" is compassion of identical substance. It is also causeless compassion; hence it is named great compassion. It also possesses the three types of compassion; hence it is named great compassion. "Practice of radiance": because the light of compassion benefits beings, it thereby constitutes practice. The Indian original names it "the liberation of the hidden wisdom treasury of the compassion of all Buddhas." It is explained: because he gathers sentient beings through skillful, hidden compassion. Second, from "teaching and transforming" downward, distinguishing his virtues contains two: first, not leaving the Buddha's presence while appearing before sentient beings; second, from "or by means of" downward, accomplishing the benefit of gathering and transforming by means of the four means of embracing and so forth. Third, from "good man" downward, explaining his karmic function contains three: first, practicing the Dharma and making vows; second, causing them to be free from fears, of which there are eighteen kinds; third, from "furthermore" downward, causing their practice not to retrogress; fourth, from "I only" downward, concluding his own stage.
