Four, praising superiority and admonishing them to listen. As for the commentary's text from "However, in traversing these ten..." onward, it re-explains the verses. It concludes by stating, "Desiring to match and explain them in detail, I fear tiring [the reader] with cumbersome text"; now I shall match them. The first verse brings up the stage of wisdom and the merits of fearlessness, and also includes the ten phrases such as "essence and characteristics clearly manifest," because it speaks of "universally manifesting in the ten directions, light shining everywhere," and so forth. The second verse is the ocean of world systems and appearance. The third verse brings up the Buddha's realm. The fourth verse brings up the Buddha's empowerment. The fifth verse is the ocean of karma and the ocean of inclinations and desires, along with the ocean of taming. The first half of the sixth verse is the ocean of pāramitās and also includes the Buddha-stage; the next line is the ocean of the dharmadhātu, and the last line is their sphere of practice. The seventh verse is the ocean of spiritual transformations. The first half of the eighth verse is the ocean of sentient beings, and the second half is the ocean of expositions. The ninth verse is the ocean of the Buddha's liberations and the three masteries. The tenth verse is the ocean of great vows. The rest are all inclusively contained and can be grasped conceptually. Since it does not aid contemplative cognition, the commentary abridges it and does not state it. Wishing to clearly explain them in detail as one follows the text, the subcommentary presents them again here.
