Regarding the commentary's phrase “Therefore Śāriputra did not feel the hand of Xinghai”: based on what the *Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa* says: “Śāriputra was sitting in dhyāna on the road. There was a powerful ghost named Xinghai (Torment-Harm) who struck him with his hand. Arising from meditative concentration, he felt a slight headache. When he told the Buddha, the Buddha said: ‘It is thanks to your power of concentration; the power of this ghost could smash Mount Sumeru into fine dust. From now on, do not sit on the road.’”
