60.111

疏「今眾生上遠慈尊」下，此有兩重父子：一約人，上遠慈尊是孤、不化眾生是獨。二約法，又無方便為孤，方便以為父故；又闕善心為獨，善心成實男故。疏「次三依有求」，由迷四諦故，前二有障、後一無治，故不證滅。

Regarding the commentary's "Now, sentient beings, above, are distant from the Compassionate Honored One" and below: here there are two layers of father and child. First, in terms of persons: above, being distant from the Compassionate Honored One is being an orphan; below, not transforming sentient beings is being childless. Second, in terms of Dharma: furthermore, lacking upāya is being an orphan, because upāya is the father; moreover, lacking a wholesome mind is being childless, because a wholesome mind forms a real son. The commentary's "The next three rely on having desire": because of being deluded about the four truths, the first two have obstacles and the last one lacks the remedy, so they do not realize cessation.
