Regarding the commentary's phrase "Now, collecting them comprehensively": second, the main explanation. Afterward, the phrase "Therefore the Yogācāra states" adduces proof. Within this are four [parts]: 1. directly verifying that retention of what is heard and so forth is what is emanated; 2. from "due to purity of the inner mind" onward, proving the three learnings; 3. from "since it says" onward, the commentary points to the subsequent meaning to explain and establish that which can emanate; 4. from "the Mahāyānasaṃgraha" onward, adducing an example to explain and establish it. The *Mahāyānasaṃgraha* corresponds to the seventh fascicle; the treatise says: "Because it is that which meditative equilibrium (samādhi) and meditative attainment (samāpatti) without regress rely upon, and because it is that which the great Dharma-radiance relies upon, it is named the Luminous Stage." Vasubandhu explains: "Because in this stage one is constantly inseparable from samādhi and samāpatti and has no regress, one can generate radiance regarding the Great Vehicle teachings; hence it is named the Luminous Stage." Asabhāva explains: "'Because it is that which meditative equilibrium and meditative attainment without regress rely upon': this means that in this stage one realizes rare meditative concentration, which can emanate the radiance of wisdom and clearly illuminate all phenomena; hence it is named Luminous. Having attained it, one does not lose it; this is called 'without regress'. The various dhyāna concentrations are called meditative equilibrium (samādhi); the various formless concentrations are called meditative attainment (samāpatti). Meditative equilibrium is one-pointedness of mind. Meditative attainment is the actualization of correct absorption. 'Because it is that which the great Dharma-radiance relies upon': this means that in this stage, in accordance with meditative concentration, because there is no regress, one attains the radiance of wisdom regarding the teachings such as the Great Vehicle discourses. Because this stage is the cause relied upon by that [radiance], it is named Luminous." In explanation: Both of these treatises correspond to the seventh fascicle and are substantially the same with minor differences; hence the commentary briefly points out their agreement with the *Yogācārabhūmi*. Next, regarding "the *Suvarṇaprabhāsa*," it has already been cited above.
