68.61

疏「以二因故」者，二因即經中「一以迴向菩提故、二分得平等道故。」後「然未」下，即經「然未名為超煩惱行」。疏今釋云：由上二因故非超也。上用二因得名清淨，成於行淨；今以二因却同染者，既因迴向及分平等而得淨名，明非淨位，故同於染，不同八地報行淨也。

Regarding the Commentary's 'Because of two causes': the two causes are in the sūtra: 'first, because of dedicating toward bodhi; second, because of partially attaining the path of equanimity.' The subsequent 'However, not yet' onward is the sūtra's 'However, it is not yet called conduct that transcends defilements.' The Commentary now explains: due to the above two causes, it does not transcend. Above, using the two causes, it obtains the name 'pure,' completing purity of practice; here, through the two causes it nevertheless shares in defilement—since it obtains the name 'pure' through dedication and partial equanimity, this clarifies that it is not yet a pure stage, and thus shares in defilement, unlike the purity of karmic retribution conduct of the eighth ground.
