70.21

疏「初句利他」等者，此依論主，有兩對二利。疏意更有二意：一為三節，以合初二為自利故；二者十句皆通二利。然遠公云：「自分所成，以用化人。勝進所成，未堪化人，業未熟故，但可自利。」疏意云：更求勝進，豈無利他。

Regarding the Commentary's statement, "The first line is benefiting others..." and so forth: this relies on the treatise master, having two pairs of the two benefits. The intention of the Commentary further has two meanings: first, as three sections, combining the first two as self-benefit; second, all ten lines apply to both benefits. However, Master Yuan says: "What is accomplished by one's own share is used to transform others. What is accomplished by superior advancement is not yet capable of transforming others, because karma has not yet ripened; it can only be self-benefit." The Commentary's intention says: seeking further superior advancement, how could there be no benefiting others?
