疏「九茶字」,別譯為「拏」字,二俱上聲。《大品》、《放光》亦為「茶」字。文中,先釋義;後「是普摧義」,即會經也。《智論》云「若聞茶字,即知矯法不熱。天竺茶闍陀,此言不熱故。」釋曰:若茶是不熱,則前離熱已是所遣,得清涼故,方為般若之相。
Regarding the commentary's "Nine: the syllable ḍa": the alternate translation has the syllable ṇa; both are rising tones. The Pañcaviṃśatisāhasrikā and Pañcaviṃśatisāhasrikā-āloka also have the syllable ḍa. In the text, it first explains the meaning; afterwards, "it has the meaning of universally crushing," which reconciles it with the sūtra. The Dazhidulun says: "Hearing the syllable ḍa, one knows that perverse dharmas are not hot. In India, ḍāha means not hot." Explanation: If ḍa means not hot, then the preceding freedom from heat has already been discarded; obtaining coolness is truly the mark of prajñā.
