In the commentary below, under "Yet...", the second [section] on analysis and synthesis states: "Yet the Hīnayāna mostly speaks of three kinds." That is, treatises such as the Abhidharmakośa say: "The uncontaminated refers to the truth of the path, and three kinds of unconditioned dharmas: namely, space and the two cessations." In stating that "most" do so: the Vibhajyavāda has four: (1) space, (2) cessation without deliberation (apratisaṃkhyānirodha), (3) cessation of ideation and feeling, and (4) tathatā. The Mahāsāṃghika speaks of nine unconditioned dharmas: namely, the [above] three, along with the four formless [attainments], the nature of the limbs of dependent origination, and the nature of the limbs of the noble path. The Mahīśāsaka also has nine: adding to the three [others], immobility, the three natures, the limbs of the path, and dependent origination.
