Seventh, echo-like forbearance. The text of the commentary is self-evident. Master Sengrui praised it, saying: "Sound is repaid by an echo, harmonizing as one. Responding when struck by conditions, who can distinguish the empty from the real? Though karma is illusory, sin and merit are not lost; if this illumination reflects it, it is bright like the blazing sun." He also made a praise saying: "An echo has no dwelling place; when conditions meet, sound comes forth. Not knowing it is from oneself, joy and anger contend with one another. Delusion harmonizes with the true mind; phenomenal images take ten thousand forms. Not knowing their root, all day long one busily schemes."
