Eighth, the dedication of merit with the characteristic of suchness is represented through the medium of the Gandharva King to express the Dharma. Here it is translated as "scent-seeker"; where there is fragrance, they perform music and entertainment in seeking their food. Drawing upon worldly phenomena to express the true, a bodhisattva of the stage of the characteristic of suchness constantly delights sentient beings with the unblemished fragrance of the fivefold dharmakāya—precepts, samādhi, wisdom, liberation, and the knowledge and vision of liberation of the dharmadhātu of suchness—causing them to cherish it. Therefore the text below says: "All generate deep faith and understanding in the Great Dharma, rejoicing, revering, and diligently practicing it without weariness." The "Chapter on Entering the Dharmadhātu" says: "Constantly causing sentient beings to increase in joy"; this is because the Gandharva King has the meaning of gladdening sentient beings with the Dharma. Among them, the ten kings illustrate the ten pāramitās within the vow-pāramitā. In this stage, wisdom increases, establishing teachings according to capacities, so as to gladden sentient beings and bring them joy.
