Eighth, "in the south" is explained as before. There is a city named Samudgata ("Born/Arisen"), which represents the eighth pāramitā of aspiration, because it gives rise to all dharmas and myriad practices. The elder is named Vijitāvin (Wushengjun), which represents conquering all ignorance and arrogance, erroneous views of birth and death, and the demonic armies of harmful bandits. Sudhana went to him, paid homage, and requested what he sought. The elder replied, "I have attained the bodhisattva liberation named 'inexhaustible marks'," which indicates that all mind and objects are entirely the marks of the Tathāgata, and at the tip of a single hair, inexhaustible marks are produced in thought after thought. When produced from the illusion of wisdom within the principle of non-thought, how could there be an end to marks?
