(Fascicle 77) Next, he went south to Sumukha city, where the boy Jayasiṃha (Guṇasiṃha) and the maiden Ratnacūḍā (Guṇā) said to Sudhana: "We have realized the bodhisattva vimokṣa named Dwelling in Illusion. South of here is a country named Samudrakaccha, in which there is a park named Mahāvyūha, and within it is a vast tower pavilion where Maitreya Bodhisattva resides." Thereupon Sudhana turned toward the country of Samudrakaccha, recalling of himself that in past lives he had not practiced paying reverence, remembering his past countlessly many faults, and practicing remedies for them. Having attained immeasurable Dharma-gates, before the great tower pavilion of the Vairocana Adornment Treasury, he reflected and observed, entering the equality gate of the wisdom-body that reaches everywhere, universally manifesting his body before all Buddhas, before bodhisattvas, before kalyāṇamitras, before stūpas and temples, up to before all the holy multitudes of the three vehicles, before all living beings of the ten directions, exhausting the limits of the future, and so on. Sudhana entered such wisdom, and with an upright mind and purified thoughts threw his whole body to the ground before the tower pavilion; rising from the ground, he gazed up whole-heartedly without parting his eyes for a moment, circumambulated it countlessly many times, and formed this thought: "This great tower pavilion is the dwelling place of those who understand emptiness, formlessness, and vowlessness." He fully enumerated all dharmas, all stated as "the dwelling place of...". Thereupon Sudhana, having praised the bodhisattvas in the pavilion with immeasurable dharmas of eulogy and praise, single-mindedly wished to see Maitreya Bodhisattva. He then saw Maitreya coming from another place, surrounded by immeasurable multitudes of the eight classes, arriving at the pavilion. Seeing him, Sudhana threw his five limbs to the ground. At that time, Maitreya observed Sudhana, pointed him out to the great multitude, praised his merits, and spoke verses saying: "You all observe Sudhana's pure mind of wisdom, who for the sake of seeking the practices of bodhi has come to my presence"—thus praising him in one hundred and fourteen lines of verse. Sudhana heard this and leaped with joy. By the power of Mañjuśrī, various flowers and necklaces suddenly appeared in his hands, which he scattered over Maitreya; Maitreya rubbed his crown and praised Sudhana in verse, and Sudhana again praised Maitreya in verse.
