2.61

（卷七十八）善財白言：「一切如來授尊者一生記。若一生已超一切菩薩所住處，具足一切菩薩地」等。彌勒問眾：「見不？」歎言：「已於福城受文殊教，展轉南行，經由一百一十善知識已，然後而來至於我所。」告善財言：「汝為饒益一切眾生故發菩提心。菩提心者，能生一切諸佛法故。菩提心者，猶如良田，能長眾生白淨法故。」如是總一百一十八句讚歎菩提之心。又以一百五譬以譬圓菩提心。如是說已，復讚於善財所有行願菩提心等，勸入此閣。

(Fascicle 78) Sudhana addressed [Maitreya], saying: "All Tathāgatas bestow upon the Venerable One the prophecy of one life [remaining before Buddhahood]. Once of one life, one surpasses the dwelling places of all bodhisattvas and is complete with all bodhisattva bhūmis," and so forth. Maitreya asked the multitude: "Do you see him or not?" and praised him saying: "He received Mañjuśrī's instruction in the City of Merit, traveled successively southwards, passed through one hundred and ten kalyāṇamitras, and only then arrived at my place." He said to Sudhana: "For the sake of benefiting all living beings, you produced the bodhicitta. Because the bodhicitta can give birth to all Buddha-dharmas. Because the bodhicitta is like a fertile field, capable of growing living beings' pure and bright dharmas." In this manner, in a total of one hundred and eighteen phrases, he praised the mind of bodhi. Furthermore, he used one hundred and five analogies to illustrate the perfect bodhicitta. Having spoken thus, he again praised all of Sudhana's practices and vows, bodhicitta, and so forth, encouraging him to enter this pavilion.
