(Fascicle 79) Thereupon Sudhana circumambulated Maitreya to the right and said: "I only pray that you will open the door of this tower pavilion for me." Maitreya snapped his fingers, and the door immediately opened. He bade [Sudhana] enter; once he had entered, it closed again. He saw that the tower pavilion was identical to empty space, adorned with various adornments; in a single place he saw all places, and in all places it was seen entirely like this, fully beholding various inconceivable, sovereign states. At that time, Maitreya retracted his supernatural power, entered the tower pavilion, snapped his fingers, and said: "Good son! Arise. The dharmatā is like this. This is the bodhisattva's wisdom knowing all phenomena, a appearance manifested through the assembly of causes and conditions, like an illusion or a dream." After Sudhana arose, [Maitreya] addressed him again, saying: "You abide in the bodhisattva's inconceivable, sovereign liberation. This liberation gate is named Entering the Adornment Treasury of Unforgetting Mindfulness and Wisdom Regarding All Realms of the Three Periods of Time. Within this gate are ineffable liberation gates, which can only be attained by a bodhisattva of a single lifetime." Sudhana asked: "Where has this array of adornments gone?" Maitreya replied: "It has gone to the place from which it came." He asked: "From where did it come?" He replied: "It came from within the bodhisattva's wisdom and supernatural power, and abides relying upon the bodhisattva's wisdom and supernatural power; it has no place to go nor any place of abiding, is neither aggregated nor eternal, and is far removed from all things." Next he clarifies neither coming nor going. Sudhana said: "From where does the Great Sage come?" Maitreya said: "A bodhisattva comes with neither coming nor going, coming in this manner. He comes with neither moving nor abiding, coming in this manner." Next he expounds coming from the place of all phenomena. Sudhana asked: "What is the bodhisattva's birthplace?" He answered: "There are ten kinds of bodhicitta; these are the bodhisattva's birthplace, because he is born into the bodhisattva family (and so forth)."
