經曰「四十億菩薩」至「當成正覺」者，述云：此後、菩薩利也。聞彌陀佛成德廣大，故得不退轉。聞此土多惡，誓欲濟度，故以弘誓德而自莊嚴。

The sūtra states: "Four billion bodhisattvas" down to "will accomplish true awakening." The commentary states: Next is the benefit for the bodhisattvas. Hearing that Amitābha Buddha's accomplished virtues are vast and great, they attained non-retrogression. Hearing that this land has many evils, they vowed to deliver [beings], and thus adorned themselves with the virtues of their vast vows.
