The sūtra says: "The sentient beings of that land always in the early morning fill their hems with various wonderful flowers to make offerings to ten trillion buddhas of other regions." Next, this explains the first: carrying flowers to make successive offerings. According to the various sūtras, they either ride on seven-jeweled palaces or hundred-jeweled lotuses, or they simply go as they are, or they rely on the supernatural power of the Buddha; in the space of a single thought-moment they travel to the realms of the ten directions, and before the buddhas, following what is in their minds, they make offerings satisfying their intentions to various buddhas, paying homage to the buddhas, hearing the Dharma, or receiving prophecies [of enlightenment]. 'Hem' (*yige*) means the lapel of a robe.
