2.55

破邪法中，文亦有二：一破邪法；二「爾時客醫以種種」下授其正法，與前左右。初中有四：一請施法化、二「王即答」下彼聞敬從、三「彼客醫」下正施法化、四「時王答」下彼聞奉行。就初段中，先思、後請。「客醫作念欲教王者今正是時」，內心思也。機熟在今，故云是時。「即語王」下，發言正請。物機順聖名實愛念，請施法化名求一願。

In refuting the heterodox teaching, the text also has two parts: 1) refuting the heterodox teaching; 2) from "At that time, the visiting physician, with various..." onward, conferring the correct teaching upon him, which corresponds to the left and right of the preceding. In the first part, there are four points: 1) requesting to bestow the Dharma-transformation; 2) from "The king immediately replied..." onward, his hearing it with reverence and compliance; 3) from "That visiting physician..." onward, directly bestowing the Dharma-transformation; 4) from "At that time, the king replied..." onward, his hearing and practicing it. In the first section, there is first thinking and then requesting. "The visiting physician thought to himself: 'Wishing to instruct the king, now is precisely the time'" is his internal thinking. The capacity being ripe is at present, hence "the time". From "He immediately addressed the king..." onward, he speaks to make the actual request. The living beings' capacity according with the Noble One is called genuinely loving and mindful; requesting to bestow the Dharma-transformation is called asking for a single wish.
