2.85

下問教凡趣菩提行，於中有二：一明法力得菩提義、二從「云何觀三寶」下明其修力得菩提義。前中有三：一明法力資人發心、二「於大眾得無畏」下明其法力資人成行、三「生死」下明其法力資人得果。初問「云何未發心人令使發心得為菩薩」，下答此經入於眾生心毛孔中，令滅重罪故使發心。

Below, the questions ask about the practice of teaching ordinary beings to advance toward bodhi. Within this, there are two parts: first, explaining the principle of attaining bodhi through the power of the Dharma; second, from "How does one contemplate the Three Jewels?" downward, explaining the principle of attaining bodhi through the power of cultivation. The former has three parts: first, explaining that the power of the Dharma assists persons in generating the aspiration; second, from "attaining fearlessness in the great assembly" downward, explaining that the power of the Dharma assists persons in completing practice; third, from "birth-and-death" downward, explaining that the power of the Dharma assists persons in attaining the fruit. The first asks, "How does one cause persons who have not yet generated the aspiration to generate it and become bodhisattvas?" Below, the answer states that this sūtra enters into the pores of sentient beings' hearts, causing grave sins to be extinguished and thereby prompting them to generate the aspiration.
