4.141

初中，迦葉先舉昔偈請佛解釋，「如佛說偈」總以標舉，「不見善」等正舉偈辭。初之兩句明可畏事。言「不見」者明無正行，言「唯見」者明有邪解，「惡可作」者明有邪行。第三一句結成可畏。末後一句喻顯可畏，「有何等義」結請令答。

In the first part, Kāśyapa first cites an earlier verse to ask the Buddha for an explanation: "As the Buddha stated in a verse" marks the citation in general; "not seeing the good" etc., directly cites the words of the verse. The first two lines explain what is to be feared. The word "not seeing" explains having no correct practice; the word "only seeing" explains having wrong understanding; "evil may be done" explains having wrong practice. The third line concludes what is to be feared. The final line uses a metaphor to reveal what is to be feared; "what is the meaning of this?" concludes with a request for an answer.
