Afterward, one contemplates the Dharma and Saṅgha; within this, it only clarifies the flourishing and decline of the Dharma, and the Saṅgha is explained following the Dharma without being treated separately. Those who can make the Dharma flourish are precisely the flourishing of the Saṅgha, and those who can harm the Dharma are precisely the decline of the Saṅgha; therefore they are not discussed separately. The text has three distinct parts: first, clarifying the causes of the flourishing and decline of the scriptural Dharma; second, from "There are none who do not seek a male body..." onward, clarifying the distinction between the scripture having power and having no power according to the times of flourishing and decline; third, from "Just as the passing of summer is called autumn..." onward, clarifying the places of decline and flourishing.
