文中有三：一明如來隨願遲速與記不同，有聲聞等願久護法則與遲記，若發速願便與速記；二「如商人」下明隨化宜，不得授彼聲聞速記；三「以是」下結。就初段中，文相可知。問曰：聲聞、緣覺之人安能速成而說速願與速記乎？釋言：二乘定入大乘，於入大後成有早晚，故說遲速。

In the text there are three parts: first, clarifying that the Tathāgata confers prophecies differently according to the slowness or quickness of vows—if there are śrāvakas and others who vow to protect the Dharma for a long time, he confers a slow prophecy, whereas if they make a vow for quickness, he promptly confers a quick prophecy; second, from "Just as a merchant" downward, clarifying that according to the suitability of conversion, he must not confer a quick prophecy upon those śrāvakas; third, from "For this reason" downward is the conclusion. In the first section, the textual presentation can be known. A question asks: How could persons of the śrāvaka and pratyekabuddha [vehicles] achieve it quickly such that one speaks of a quick vow and confers a quick prophecy? The explanation says: The two vehicles are certain to enter the Mahāyāna; after entering the Great [Vehicle], their accomplishment has earlier and later times, and therefore one speaks of slowness and quickness.
