就初句中，四眾集處名「四衢道」，「有人」喻於說法之者，「器」喻教法，具說當來人天樂果名「盛滿食」，說彼生中具有色力安樂等事名「色香具」，勸人行因以資其果名「欲賣之」。

In the first clause, the place where the fourfold assembly gathers is called "the crossroads"; "a person" allegorizes the preacher of the Dharma; "vessel" allegorizes the teaching of the Dharma; fully explaining the future pleasant fruits of humans and gods is called "filled with food"; explaining that within that birth there are physical form, strength, ease, joy, and so forth is called "complete in color and fragrance"; encouraging people to practice the causes in order to foster that fruit is called "wishing to sell it."
