In the third pair, the king first shows that he will not go, and Jīvaka later admonishes him. In the former part there are four clauses: First, citing what he previously heard, he explains that the Tathāgata does not draw near to evil persons; therein, first the Dharma, next four analogies are adduced, and afterwards the application is clear. Second, from "I should" onward clarifies that he himself will not go. Third, from "I observe" onward he conjectures on his own that the Tathāgata does not draw near to evil persons. Fourth, from "therefore" onward concludes that he will not go.
