Below, it clarifies the two liberations: first directly explaining; from "Virtuous King said" onward, it re-elucidates through questions and answers. In the former, first stating "what is liberation of mind?" raises a question to introduce it. "The perpetual cessation of greed and so forth is called liberation of mind" explains in response to the question. Greed, hatred, delusion, and so forth are the intrinsic fettering afflictions of the five abidings; because these are severed, the true mind attains liberation. "What is liberation of wisdom?" raises a question to introduce it; "knowing without obstacle in regard to all dharmas is called liberation of wisdom" explains in response to the question. In terms of phenomena, ignorance can obstruct conventional knowledge; because it has been severed, one is able to know without obstacle among all dharmas of conventional truth. Below, within this, it expands into the five supernormal knowledges to illuminate the meaning of non-obstruction in regard to everything: "by virtue of liberation of wisdom, hearing without hearing" is the divine ear supernormal knowledge; "seeing without seeing" is the divine eye supernormal knowledge; "arriving without arriving" is the bodily supernormal knowledge; the knowledge of others' minds and past lives are omitted and not discussed.
