In the second analogy, "sunflowers following the sun" is again an analogy for the lodestone. "Also without reverence, etc." is an analogy for not attracting iron. "The nature of other dharmas" and so forth is an analogy for the arising of other dharmas when others exist, as mentioned earlier. The remaining analogies and their applications can all be understood from the text. Because the nature is identical to the preceding analogies, it says "is like this." Apart from conditions, it cannot attract and attain bodhi. In turning the analogy to illustrate the point, "Avidyā cannot attract the saṃskāras" means that apart from conditions they do not arise; the rest are also like this. It may also be termed: avidyā conditions saṃskāras, so meeting conditions they are able to arise; the rest are also like this. This principle is eternally constant, hence it says "whether there is a Buddha or no Buddha, it is constantly abiding." The above is the first part, which refutes the latter attachment and clarifies the necessity of cultivating the path.
